5th December 2003 - Stirring
Childhood Memories
I chased 47197 on a Pendo drag to Melton
Mowbray. I ended up taking the shot next to a foot crossing where I began
trainspotting in the 1970's. In those days, I often used to view the APT
prototype accessing the Old Dalby test track at this spot, and here I was 25
years later photographing another type of tilting train accessing the test
track.
7th December 2003 - Gutted!
Drove all the way up to Milford Junction at
the crack of dawn for large logo grid 56078 in an engineer's posession. It was
parked in a good spot, but no chance of sun. As we drove away and headed south,
everywhere except the Milford area appeared to be clear blue (confirmed later by
looking at the Met Office website), and all I ended up with was a sunny shot of
a Black 5 on the GCR. Mmmm, I could have saved myself a bit of petrol there me
thinks.....
12th December 2003 -
Stafford Gamble
Having seen gen postings and photos on
websites showing the Halewood to Washwood Heath car train sometimes stopping at
Stafford. I decided to spend an evening there, to see if it would stop. The
gamble paid off, with 37372 having to stop in the centre road to allow a
northbound VWC service to enter platform 3.

Last Tractor Action of the Year
An early morning move to York for the Arriva
ECS on the 30th, and on the 31st 37375 dropped onto the Burton trip.
