4th April 2009 -
Nottingham Trams
I took my wife shopping in Nottingham, even
though I was earning brownie points, it would have been rude not to photograph
some trams. I was hoping for a photo of 201 in it's 'High Five' advert livery
which celebrates 5 years of trams in Nottingham. It was out on run 8 and I
managed a nice sunny shot of it heading down Waverley Street. However, on it's
next round trip it was replaced by tram 211, though I did manage another photo
of it on depot on the way home.
5th April 2009 - 47760 and
Crich Trams
47760 was booked to work a 5Z64 0955
Leicester to Southall ECS and this was photographed round the back of Leicester
station - a shot I have never done despite living in Leicester for over 16
years! Then as it was a pleasant sunny day, it was off to Crich for my first
visit of 2009 to the Crich Tramway Village.

Easter Saturday in Blackpool
Easter Saturday marked the start of the 2009
season in Blackpool, and what a start! Fantastic weather coupled with a lot of
visitors in the resort resulted in a splendid tram output.
15th April 2009 -
Southampton Skip
I was in Southampton on a course and chanced
upon 67001 coming out of Southampton East Docks with a new Javelin unit in tow.
Not a particularly good shot, but something a bit different. I would have had a
much better shot of it going in, but I couldn't get the car parked quick enough
and just missed it, which was a shame as it was in sun.
18th April 2009 -
Tornado on the Pullmans
Having failed to get a sunny picture of
Tornado near Huntingdon on her northbound run near in the morning, it was off to
the Newark area for a crack at the southbound run. After taking a few 91's just
south of Newark station, it was off to Carlton on Trent where the wind direction
did me no favours at all. The smoke blew down and wiped out the train, though I
have had a go at digitally manipulating the shot to get rid of some of the
smoke.
19th April 2009 - N7 tank
and a Pair of Spoons
The 1515 ex Loughborough produced N7 tank
69621, then it was off to Newark for an Ely to Carnforth ECS headed by 47245 and
47804.
20th April 2009 - Damn them
DBS's
Made another move for a class 31 on a test
train only to be bowled yet again by the DBS leading! I haven't included the pic
of the DBS, but I took a couple of other shots on this day, the highlight(!) of
which was a 66 on a rake of MEA's. Nice light though :-)
23rd April 2009 - The Quest
for Colas 47's
A couple of shots of the Colas 47's working
the Burton to Dollands Moor steel at Burton and Bentley Heath. One or two other
bits are included that were taken while waiting for the 47's.
25th April 2009 -
Top Gear Tornado
'Tornado' took part in a Top Gear challenge
and worked from Kings Cross to Edinburgh as part of a race. I manged this in
milky sunshine near Grantham, then headed back to the Leicester area for a few
local bits, most of which turned up when the sun was behind clouds. Not the most
productive of days, and quite frustrating.
26th April 2009 -
Local Sunday
A few shots taken locally including 25067 and
47640 at the Battlefield Line Diesel Gala and 67002 on a Leicester to Leicester
via Grantham 'Northern Belle' lunch charter.
