8th / 9th November 2009 - Fleetwood Finale
The last day of Blackpool trams running on the street section in Fleetwood. Although this is more a case of 'see you later' rather than 'goodbye', when the street section re-opens in 2012, it will be part of a modern 'Supertram' system. Many of the old trams may either be scrapped or sold, and it is open to speculation how often the old trams that remain will be allowed to run all the way up to Fleetwood Ferry.
There were several enthusiasts tours during the day, and although I didn't have that much luck with these with the sun, I remained for a night photting session that lasted until the very last tram departed Fleetwood Ferry at 0130. The last traditional street tramway in the UK closed behind it and we now await the dawning of a new age.
There were hundreds of enthusiasts either riding the tours or lining
Lord Street, North Albert Street and the Ferry, all trying to witness, ride, photograph and video the last acts of a section of tramway which has remained almost constant since 1898. There was certainly a lot of interest from enthusiasts and the public alike.
I was able to record a very special image of the last tram as it was brought to a stand for a few seconds as it passed through Albert Square. This was done at my request, and I would like to thank the staff at Blackpool Transport, Rob the driver and Chris, Nick and Mike from the Fylde Tramway Society for making this happen - it made a very special end to the day and helped me to record a really nice image to mark the passing of one of my favourite sections of tramway. Lord Street will never be the same again!

14th / 15th November 2009 - I Haven't Been Anywhere Near Blackpool....
...but I have photographed a Blackpool Tram!
A few photos taken on my travels this weekend while out and about looking at photo charter opportunities. Included is a photo of Blackpool Brush car 634 at it's new home at Rushden in Northamptonshire, a few Nottingham trams and a couple of shed shots at the Midland Railway Centre's Swanwick Junction shed.
