4th March 2010 - Blackpool Tramway Upgrade Work
A brief visit to Blackpool for the annual Fylde Tramway Society photo competition gave me the opportunity to take a look at some of the work being done on the tramway upgrade. These scenes were taken on New South Promenade, Pleasure Beach and Lord Street in Fleetwood.

7th March 2010 - WSMR Diverts
WSMR services between Wrexham and Marylebone were diverted via the WCML and as it was a fine day I decided to have a go at photographing them. I started the day at Tile Hill where I just missed a 57 dragging a Pendolino south - d'oh! Although Tile Hill is not off the beaten track for the Wrexhams, it was a shot I wanted to do and seemed like a good place to start. Next up I moved to Blisworth for the first southbound, followed by Brockhall for the next southbound. In between these three workings, there were plenty of Pendolinos, Voyagers and Desiros to photograph and I have included a few of these alongside the WSMR shots below.

13th March 2010 - Saturday Variety
I started by heading west. The idea was to take a picture of the Stourbridge Shuttle, then a few Midland Metro trams followed by a couple of 60's on oil tanks. However, after a couple of sunny shots at Stourbridge, the sky clouded up and it was game over. It looked far better in the east, so I headed back that way and ended up at March where I photographed 'Oliver Cromwell' on a railtour, various units, a freight and a stabled pair of class 20's. Finally on the way home, a brief pause at Werrington bagged me a freight and a 91 in sun. A bit of a weird day, but at least I feel I made the most of what sunshine was available.

16th March 2010 - Ugly Mo-Fo!
The gen came through that one of the aesthetically challenged class 70's was en route to Stud Farm with a rake of MRA's, so as it was sunny, I decided to get my first look at, and indeed my first photo of a class 70 as it climbed through Bagworth.

18th March 2010 - Test Trains Returning to Base
97304 and 97301 were heading back to Derby with a test train off the Cambrian, so I made a move for a night shot. The 37's pulled up in a top spot in platform 1, but I also got a bonus in the form of 31601 which was returning to the Derby RTC with a test train from Neville Hill via the North West.

21st March 2010 - Pendo Drag and a Tornado
A foggy start to the day, but by checking the M1 traffic cams I could see that the fog was clear south of Milton Keynes, so I headed off that way to get 5A16 0930 Oxley to Euston which was being worked by 57302 dragging 390047. This was photograph at Chelmscote Farm in sun, although the sun died about 5 seconds after the train had passed. By this time the fog had cleared further north so I headed for the Great Central Railway where I managed a couple of pictures of 60163 'Tornado'.

27th-29th March 2010 - Windsor & London
This was a weekend away with my wife, so photography of railways wasn't the main priority, but a 450 and three tube trains managed to cross my path during the weekend.
