D9000 Locomotives Ltd's second loco 9016 'Gordon Highlander' received an overhaul at Brush Traction in Loughborough. This work was
sponsored by Porterbrook and the intention was that it would become a 'spot hire' loco. It was finished in Porterbrook's purple colour
scheme and fitted with 'wipac' lights. It is seen being hauled north from Loughborough by D9000. It was taken to Toton from where it
worked a train consisting of D9000, a class 47 and a mark 3 coach. This run was bound for Oxley and was 9016's mainline test run. Sadly,
the loco suffered a collector drum fire at Loughborough, and after being dealt with by the fire brigade, was dumped on Leicester Depot.
The use of this loco for spot hire work never materialised and it would be some time before the loco finally took to the mainline.
