Back in 1998, there was little in the way of instant internet gen, but the jungle telegraph had been alive with reports of Deltic D9000
being used on its own diagram to Ramsgate and back from the summer timetable change following some successful runs on Virgin Trains
services during 1997. I didn't know how true it would be, but went for the first Ramsgate train of the season and actually knew for sure
it was the Deltic about ten minutes prior to taking this picture as I could hear it in the distance. This is D9000 'Royal Scots Grey' at
Roade with the 1O99 0658 Birmingham New Street to Ramsgate.
