The sad sight of Balloon car 700 being stripped down and modified to be fitted with plastic skirts, rubber bumpers and a wider centre
section with plug type doors. 700 was a popular tram in its wartime livery, and after this it ran in all over white, followed by the Flexity
style purple and white livery and then back into this livery, albeit still with the modifications still in place.
