I wanted a picture of a train emerging
from Dove Holes Tunnel into the cutting, and the afternoon return working to
Tunstead offered
an opportunity. I waited...and waited...and waited, and just as the shadows were
creeping across the cutting, a distant rumbling could
be heard coming from the tunnel...then the ground began to shake, and then 37509
and 37416 burst into daylight at the head of the 7H52
1350 Northwich to Tunstead limestone empties. Some may not like the picture due
to the shadows, but I have always liked how the train
appears to be spotlighted in the cutting.
